It took major government lobbying to get MSCI to defer a decision to rejig its indices excluding shares being offered through GDRs, ADRs, a move that could have led to over $1 billion outflow from India. Earlier, MSCI had put off action against India for limiting investor access. Big relief, but it underlines the urgency to embrace best global practices in our markets.
